Description

Converse Jack Purcell Ox Shoes

First introduced in 1935, the Converse Jack Purcell Ox design is still going strong with a simple yet effective silhouette that was originally intended to be worn for badminton. This printed edition showcases a black zebra style pattern - pulled from the brand’s extensive archive - against greige coloured canvas uppers. White cotton laces secure the tongue, which has been decorated with a continuation of the design, and contrasting top stitching flows across both side panels. A durable rubber toe cap sits above a signature black ‘smile’ line at the front of the foot above a thick midsole. Throughout the inside a canvas lining has been added and an OrthoLite insole ensures comfort when worn daily.

Recognised as being an icon for low-key expression, Jack Purcell footwear models continue to be reinterpreted and updated for new seasons with experimental fabrics that are in-keeping with the designs’ origins, whilst also bringing a fresh look to the silhouette. Famous for his title of Canadian National Badminton Champion of 1929 and 1930, Jack Purcell designed his self-entitled model in 1935 which quickly became the go-to tennis shoe worn across various terrains.
